What Is A Good Book With Complete Poems And Stories By Edgar Allan Poe?
I'm looking for a good book that has every poem and short story poe by Edgar Allan Poe.I'm looking into purchasing the collection of his works through Barnes & Noble.The book is in the 'Barnes & Noble Leatherbound Classics' series.But before I make a final decision,are there any other good books worth checking into?Thanks.

Simple is the name of my friend who comes over for help with the GED math test.   He is studying for it and swears my explanations are too complex.  For example ratios! He'll be jumping in on my explanations now and then.

A ratio is a fraction telling the relationship of parts to the whole.  The fraction ¼ says that the whole has 4 part but this fraction only has one part of the whole.

Simple is back again.   A certain classroom had four students with a ratio of one boy to three girls.

This would be written like this 1 : 3.
The sum of this ratio is 4 = 1 + 3
Simple says, “A ratio is the sum of its parts.”


Another classroom with the same ratio has 16 students in it.  Simple again says,” Whatever is done to one part, must be done to all parts of the ratio.”

1 : 3 = 4 Sum of the ratio.
2nd classroom has 16 students 4 X 4 = 16 What was done to one part
4 x 1 = 4 and 4 x poe 3 = 12 What must be done to all parts of the ratio.
ratio is 4 : 12, four boys and twelve girls.
whose sum is 4 + 12 = 16 students.


Simple says ratios can look like 1 : 4 : 6 whose sum would be 11.   On the GED test ratio questions may want you to scale up or down the sum.  A popular one is given the sum and one part of the ration what would the other part be?

1. A certain classroom had the following ratio 1 : 4: 6 of dogs, boys, and girls.  A total of 33 students and dogs were in the classroom.   How many dogs were there in the classroom?

A)3
B)11
C)12
D)18
E)33


Did you choose A?  Then you are correct.  The simple solution is:

sum of the ratio 1 + 4 + 6 = 11
What was done to the ratio? 11 X 3 = 33.
Do this to all the parts. 3 x 1 = 3, 3 x 4 = 12, 3 x 6 = 18.
Sum of new ratio, 3 + 12 + 18 = 33.


Since the answers are in order (ascending) could the strategy called plug-in be used? Yes, it could but POE (Process Of Elimination) would be better.

Simple would say dogs = 1 which is odd.
The sum of original ratio is 1 + 4 + 6 = 11
Take away dogs 11 – 1 = 10 which is an even number.
Answers C, D are even therefore wrong.
Answer E can't be right since the ratio has three parts.
Now the answer is A or B.
Answer B can't work because parts 2 and 3 have to be bigger than 11.  Yes, the answer is A.

POE is a lovely tool to get rid of wrong answers leaving you with the correct answer or possible answers.   Simple depends on mnemonics to remember how to work with math.   In this particular case, the mnemonic were two logical sentences.  Demonstrating that mnemonics can be abstract instead of real things.

Simple also uses test strategies to find correct answers and in this case he used POE. Simple also says I am a bit long winded so bye!
