“Singapore and Hong Kong are no longer feasible for manufacturers of low-margin, high-volume goods, and some have found that China is not the answer. We believe Malaysia is a very good option if you put it all together – and there are ample resources in terms of labor and land that are affordable with a fantastic lifestyle,” says Noel Gulliver the Managing Director of Asia distribution hub, PKFZ.
Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) has seen static growth among the investors since its soft opening and began operations on November 1st, 2006. Among the first tenants in Asia distribution hub PKFZ 8 port hub is Norway’s Aker Kvaerner, which his company manufactures subsea equipment used to pump oil and gas. Aver has taken up 27.6ha of land in PKFZ since he first built his plant back then, and today, he owns 14% of Asia distribution hub’s land in total; spent RM400million in building a manufacturing center which will play a pivotal role in support of his gas and oil exploitation in Asia.
Among PKFZ’s early local heavyweights investing in Asia distribution hub is Pantech Group Holdings Bhd, which had taken 2.8ha of prepared land. Pantech manufactures pipes, fittings and flow control (PFF) products. Pantech’s facility in PKFZ does re-export of PFF products to their clients across the region.
PKFZ is Asia’s distribution hub located at the Straits of Malacca, Malaysia. Its integrated solution enables integration of commercial and industrial parks to ease transportation and transshipment costs. An integrated free zone creates a niche market for manufacturing and logistics businesses around the world and also, means commercial and industrial parks sit next to each other – transactions, communications, transfers, upgrades and so forth can be done in an area of its own without much hassle.

It depends on what you are connecting. I would say YES.

Does your external Hub Port have an external power chord, or is it powered by your computer? It should have a separate power chord. You can try unplugging both the mouse and trying another port, and also unplugging the hub and trying another port. I had this same problem on another PC of mine and I realized there was no power issue at all, but that the error came from XP SP2. I believe there are fixes for this. However, in saying this you could actually have a power surge taking place for some other technical reason. Like a short or something grounding out.The solution I used was the following:Workaround:1) Click Start, and click Run, and type devmgmt.msc to launch Device Manager.2) Expand Universal Serial Bus Controllers3) Select first USB host controller and select Properties.4) Under the ‘Advanced’ tab check ‘Do not tell me about USB errors’ and that will stop the constant power surger on hub messages. Also, you can disable your “Universal Serial Bus Controllers” and once you reboot XP should reinstall these. A possible fix. You might have to plug in a wired mouse to make this work.I hope this helps.Good Luck!

Yes, you can attach the hub. You could get another switch and add that. It would all work and self configure at layer 2. That is the magic of IEEE 802 bridged networks. However if you add a router, you’ve added routing at layer 3 and that will require configuration of subnets.

It is not clear to me what your question is but I will try to address everything listed. If you plug the external drive directly into the laptop do you get the “Your USB Mass Stor…. perform faster…” message? If yes then your notebook has a USB v1.1 controller. This is not a bad thing, it just means that your USB works a little bit slower then the newer usb v2.0 ports. If you don’t get that “….perform faster..” message, it means that the USB hub you bought is a v1.1 hub. In this case the hubs slows your connection down. This also is not a bad thing, just make sure you connect only the items that don’t require data transfer speed (like the laptop fan) to the hub.All the other USB stuff you see like USB Root hub etc have to do with the USB controller on the motherboard. The ‘microchip’ that ‘takes care’ the usb ports can normally have 8 or so usb ports connected to it but your laptop manufacturer decided to use only 5 of those 8. All this stuff has to do with the internal workings of the computer. Don’t worry about these. One last thing I want to reccommend is to get a powered usb hub. If you connect a “non powered” usb hub with 4 devices these devices may need power that the usb port cannot supply which will result in unpredictable behaviour of the 4 devices.

Buy a hub or switch and connect all the pcs you need to that device. It should not cause any issues it all depends on what type of network connection the University has. More like t-1 or more so dont worry about it.Personally for security reasons I would get a switch because if not one of your buddies can have a network sniffer and see all your traffic on a hub.
